The animals at NGALA® Wildlife Preserve were primarily acquired from unfortunate circumstances. They were born in captivity and cannot be returned to the wild.
Many of our animals are non-genetically diversified. This very simply means that they are “mutts”. As “mutts” they do not meet the perfect genetic criteria to serve the purpose of an accredited zoo, which is to preserve the pure genetic subspecies in case an animal species is depleted in the wild. Therefore most zoos do not want them.
NGALA® Wildlife Preserve spays and neuters most of its animals so that we do not perpetuate these situations.
Hosting an event at NGALA® directly benefits the animals. Providing both mental stimulation and enrichment for them while providing the financial resources necessary to properly care for these magnificent creatures.
